Booking your Trade Stand or Exhibition space couldn’t be easier.

All Application Forms are available for download from 1st April. We can also email them to you or send them in post upon request to the Show Secretary –  (Don’t delay as the spaces are filled quickly), return them to us either by email or post to our Show Secretary with SAE.

Once your application has been received it will be reviewed and processed and payment will be required.  Closing date for all Trade Stands is 1st July .  A few weeks before the show date we will decide where to place everyone with as much consideration to all as possible.  Where Stands are alllocated is entirely at the Committee’s discretion and dependant upon space required and the location of other similar trades. Our Show Secretary will then send you your Exhibitors information in the post.  Setting up for the Show will commence the day before. Instructions and access to the Show Field will be included in your Exhibitors Information pack. Any queries please contact the Show Secretary directly.

Art & Craft Marquee – Marquee now full. Any further applications received will be placed on a waiting list and we will contact you if a space becomes available. We provide a Marquee large enough for up to 25 Stalls.  We provide one table per 2m of space with 1 chair (4m = 2 tables and 2 chairs)  £15 per metre.

Food Marquee –  We provide a Marquee large enough for 10 – 12 Stalls – Tables as per Art & Craft Marquee.  £50 for a 2 Metre Space (minimum table space 2M)

Hot Food Catering – Space Only on Show Field – £135 per Catering Unit

Catering Unit – Space on Show Field – £300 per unit.

Wrestling Info

Cumberland and Westmorland style wrestling is part of the heritage of the Northern Counties of England and especially the Lake District. The sport can be seen at agricultural shows, sports meetings, vintage rallies, and local fêtes in an area covering North Lancashire, through Cumbria and Northumberland, into Durham and South Scotland.

The aim is very simple – to put your opponent on the ground. The wrestler who touches the ground first with any part of his body above his ankle is the loser. A wrestler who loses his grip before the bout is completed is also the loser.

The referee is in control of the bout and will ensure that each wrestler has a fair hold and will instruct both wrestlers to be “on guard”. Once the referee has instructed the competitors to “wrestle” the bout will commence. The bout is judged by two judges and a referee. Both judges give their independent decision on whom has won the bout. If the judges’ do not agree, the referee is brought in to the equation. The result is always a majority decision.

Most classes are wrestled best of three falls but should there be a large number of entries, one fall (sudden death) may be stipulated. Wrestlers can use various “chips” to put their opponent to the ground with the exception of kicking, although a strike with the side of the foot is allowed. The commentator will announce the various chips played such as back-heel, buttock, hank, hipe, cross-click, inside-click. Occasionally it is impossible to decide which wrestler hit the ground first and in that case it will be declared a “dog fall” and the bout wrestled over again. Should both judges and the referee all have different opinions a “no fall” will be declared and the bout wrestled again.

The attraction of the sport is that it can be spectacular and intense but with a good sense of sportsmanship about it. The competitors shake hands before and after every bout.

A strong part of the heritage is the traditional costume which is still worn to this day. There is some debate as to whether this deters people from taking up the sport but it is invariably a request from the sports promoters that the costume be worn as it adds to the distinct nature of the sport.

Up to the age of twelve years, wrestling classes are mixed. After that they are generally split by age for juniors and by weight for seniors. Most events now have categories for female wrestlers and two female championship events were introduced in 2016.
